It was an 8 hour roller-coaster ride that seemed as if it would never end. However, Dwayne Kilbourne (@dwaynekilbourne) was determined to stay on the entire time to raise the most money he could for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Throughout the ride, he wore several shirts from different local companies who sponsored his Coasterthon 2013 ride including Bella Web Design, Inc. The event was held at Six Flags over Georgia in Austell, GA.
The Coasterthon raised a total of $14,505.00 for Children’s Healthcare, a new record. Dwayne was one of the top donors and won a season pass for his efforts. Dwayne’s main motivation to stay on the ride, “Riding a looping coaster like Mind Bender can be quite challenging, but it pales in comparison to the challenges the cardiac patients at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta face everyday!” Although the event was cut short by 2 hours due to thunderstorms in the area, Dwayne still managed to complete the Mindbender ride 85 times, plus 1 ride on the Goliath roller coaster. Dwayne hopes to go for a world record one day soon.
“We were extremely honored Dwayne asked us to sponsor the event and we could be a small part of his quest to raise money for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.” stated CEO, Desiree Colonna.
