Interview with Chris Brogan, Author of the Brand New Book “The Impact Equation”

Chris Brogan and I sat down for a quick interview this week about his new book with Julien Smith “The Impact Equation” which will be available October 25th. I was one of the first 60 people to respond to his tweet about previewing the book. (See? Twitter can be highly valuable if you pay attention!) I was honored to be the first interview he gave. Thanks Chris!

If you liked Chris’ first book “Trust Agents”, you’re going to like this one even more. (It’s so good, it blew the door off my office. You’ll notice the door off the hinge in the video.) The book is filled with concrete ideas to take action on as you go through the different parts of his Impact Equation (yes there is a little math involved, well sorta). It also has practical advice on creating an impact that works wherever you are in your business be it a start-up or 20 year veteran, it doesn’t matter. Starting with Part 1, there were great takeaways I could use immediately in my own business. NOTE: This is NOT a book about social media, but it does involve using these tools as a means to share good content and, in turn, help your audience. This time, the authors include worksheet pages and questions to think about as well as things you can do online immediately on your platform, whichever you choose.

One of the most important discussions evolved around creating content and using writing as a tool to communicate. It’s crucial and if you’re not writing, you could be missing a big opportunity to connect with your audience. We talk about the importance of explaining things to your audience as if they are six-years-old. It makes a lot of sense once Chris explains it in the video. Remember, creating content isn’t about you, it’s about your audience and educating them in a way that helps them build their business.

As always, we welcome your comments below and hope you enjoy the interview. BONUS: First person to post the meaning of the big word Chris uses gets my copy of the book! Ready, set, go!
